I felt so moved and inspired by Elder Holland's talk today for the CES devotional. Sometimes in the moment it's so easy to forget how the way I speak and the way I act might affect others. I chose to take upon Christ's name the day I got baptized and that, to me, is an enormous commitment. It means that I am responsible in representing Him.
So I ask myself,
Do I serve as the Lord served?
Do I love the way Savior loves?
Do I act the way Christ would act?
...Or am I checking my religion at the door?
And obviously I will never be perfect and will never, in this life, do any of those things perfectly. However, there is something to be said about consciously making these things a daily goal, and trying my best at loving and serving, and acting as the Savior would.
I especially loved Elder Hollands words about judging righteously and not self-righteously. I hope that those who listen to this talk will also have their hearts soften for those who are failing to live righteously. I loved Elder Holland's emphasis on judging the sin and not the sinner.
