A very, very personal poem. And it's coming along beautifully and maybe not so much because it is actually beautiful or even well written but because it is a beautiful representation of who I am. So I will be posting it on here soon.
I just thought that I should warn you.
:)
In the mean time, here's a poem I wrote a year ago for my creative writing class. I loved it then and got some ok reviews on it from class members. I'm not so in love with it anymore, but I didn't think it was fair that I would tease you with news about writing without showing you something, right? I'm not that cruel.
Reflections on a Sunday Evening
In moments of despair,
In times of desperate need,
I look to you for peace of mind,
For comfort to my soul.
The Journey is long and weary,
The paths all twist and turn.
In this labyrinth of decisions,
I fear I’ve lost my way.
Each road seems worn and weathered,
dread roots me to the ground.
The black obscurity confines,
Which path should I engage?
Then, clearly I recall,
Your promise to the world,
A promise of abiding love,
And the fear is washed away.
Your presence is eternal,
Whatever path I take,
I know I wont be abandoned,
For you have vowed to stay.
So there you have it, in all it's pretentious glory. Eat your heart out.
Eli
PS. Is anyone else in the mood for pie???!!!
